    Call ISLC Middle School at (323) 763-4500 if you need a device.  We are available every day from 8 am - 2:30 pm to distribute devices.  It is recommended that every student should have their own hotpot!  If your child needs a hotspot call to order & when it arrives ISLC let you know it is ready for pick up.

    Online pre-registration is now available for eligible 16 and 17 year olds by visiting California youth who pre-register to vote will have their registration become active once they turn 18 years old. Eligible 18 year olds can register to vote

    MS Breast Cancer Awareness Cards

    This month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Earn 30 minutes of community service by creating thoughtful digital cards for breast cancer patients. Send your cards to Ms. Liu at by October 30, 2020. You must include your name, grade, and advisory teacher in the e-mail.

    Community Service Opportunity-Respect for the Aged Day

    (Keiro no Hi in Japanese)

     Do you enjoy expressing yourself through words and images?  Are you looking for a way to give back to the community?  Here’s an opportunity for you!

    Create a beautiful hand-made or digital card for the Japanese American senior citizens in our community to earn 30 minutes of community service.  

    Click here for a guideline to prepare a letter for the elderly to wish them good health and happiness.  Please include your name, Advisory Teacher, and grade on your card.

    Please upload here in PDF format by October 29, 2020 and save so that we can deliver the hard copies at a later date.  

    In Japan, "Respect for the Aged" Day is a holiday set aside for others to show respect and appreciation for the elderly--like your grandparents.

    The Southeast Japanese School and Community Center in Norwalk will be celebrating the day in November and would like to prepare letters for its elderly members since they won’t be having their typical yearly celebration due to Covid.

    Dragons! It’s Digital Portfolio Time!

    This semester students will be conducting a student-led parent conference at home by 10/27.  Students have been assigned this activity as an Advisory assignment.

    Parents will be invited to meet with teachers virtually by appointment 10/28 (MS) and 10/29 (HS).  A sign-up for conferences is below.

    Students, to prepare, please have your digital portfolio ready!  

    All Students Grades 6-12

    1.  Use the attached job aid to help you build/update your digital portfolio.  

    2. Complete/Update your All About Me section.

    3.  Upload an artifact of your proudest work from at least one current course.

    4.  Google share your site with your Advisory teacher.

    New Scholarship Opportunity

    Check out the scholarship page of the ISLC website to view the new SoCal Edison scholarship available to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 and above.

    • Must be a high school senior with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, plan to pursue studies in the STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university and show financial need.

    • Eligible STEM majors include computer and information systems, engineering, engineering technology, management information systems, mathematics, natural resources and conservation and physical sciences.

    • Applicants must live in Southern California Edison’s service territory.

    • The top 50 finalists will be required to submit a short video. Don’t stress, it’s simple.

    • Dependents of Edison International and SCE employees and retirees are not eligible.

    College Portals

    Have you submitted a college application?  Now the REAL work begins!  Open all emails from colleges and read for DETAIL.  Open your portal accounts ASAP by following the instructions in the emails you receive.  Check spam folders daily.  Be sure you’re receiving emails from colleges on your phone.  Record your login for each college portal in a safe place.  Schedule a support appointment if you’d like help creating your portals.

    Reminders for students who did not link FAFSA to IRS using Data Retrieval Tool:

    Order a parent tax return transcript for verification purposes TODAY. Please also order a non-filer verification letter for yourself because you didn't submit taxes.

    If you are unable to order online, fill out Form 4506-T below. Samples are attached to the update in the Class of 2021 Schoology Group and in that group’s resources folder (Financial Aid Application) showing you how to complete. Email the form to if you need help mailing in the form.

    7th Grade ISLC Dragon Angela Estrada was celebrated by the mayor of South Gate on October 3, 2020 for founding the Little Library on Aldrich Road.  Come visit to leave a book or take a book!  We are SO proud of you, Angela, for supporting literacy and service  in our community!

    Warren Christopher Scholarship Runner-Up Awardee

    Congratulations to 11th Grader Miles Recio who has been recognized as a “Runner-Up” for the Warren Christopher Scholarship Award. Miles will be awarded with a $500 scholarship upon graduation from high school and enrollment in college. Congratulations Miles!!

    ISLC's 2020 Advanced Placement results are in!  ISLC is proud to report 97% of students that registered in the fall, took the exams.  ISLC's AP English Literature scores for 2020 are 7% above California's and the Global average passing rate.  AP Spanish Language 2020 scores were at 100% passing rate!!!

    ISLC places 2nd in its size division for the 2020-2021 STATE WIDE Race to Submit!

    The 2020-21 Race to Submit is a statewide campaign that aims to increase the number of financial aid applications for California high school seniors who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application.

    Please join us in congratulating Emely Juarez Class of 2020 on her Lifetime Perfect Attendance Award!  ABC 7 Disney Channel reporter Eric Resendiz will interview her and her parents for being recognized for not missing a day of school and not every arriving late to class during her K-12 educational journey--a feat accomplished by a short list of LAUSD alumni.  We expect the TV news segment to air during the upcoming days.     Middle School robotics students have placed as finalists in the G4C Challenge Games, a national video game challenge. Wow!!  Winners will be announced at an online ceremony that all are invited to attend.  The Dragon finalists are:
